DATE: Art Deco, c.1920 

Founded in Pforzheim, Germany in 1855 by Georg Seeger and Theodor Fahrner, the Fahrner company became one of the most successful European  jewellery manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th century. Fahrner's son, Theodor Jr ran the business after his fathers death up until 1883, and it was then sold to Gustav Braendle and renamed Gustav Braendle, Theodor Fahrner "Nachfolger" (German for successors). When Braendle died in 1952, his son Herbert took over. Production ceased after his death in 1979.

Fahrner Jr was a creative an innovative designer, and was a member of the aesthetic reform movement known as Jugendstil, the German name for Art Nouveau. After the company had been taken over by Gustav Braendle, their designs were known for their striking Art Deco styles, with the use of enamel and semi-precious gemstones. 

These earrings date from the Art Deco period, coloured with bright enamel and set with turquoise cabochons. Crafted in silver throughout, they feature charming pendulum tassels that move freely when worn. The enamel remains in great condition and are fastened with stud backs. Signed TF to the back.
